Klong Chao Waterfall reveals a side of Koh Kood far removed from its white-sand beaches. Freshwater from the island’s forested interior flows over the rocks into a large natural pool before continuing along Klong Chao toward the sea. King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) visited Koh Kood in 1911, and the waterfall became associated with the name “Anam Kok”, commemorating Nguyễn Phúc Ánh—later Emperor Gia Long of Vietnam—who had once sought refuge in Siam before returning to reclaim his kingdom. This easily overlooked story connects a waterfall deep in Koh Kood’s forest with a much wider chapter in the historical relationship between Siam and Vietnam, giving the place a significance that extends well beyond its natural beauty.
